Bengaluru, September 18: BEML Limited has secured an order worth over ₹5,400 crore from National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) for the supply and maintenance of high-speed rolling stock and allied works for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
The public sector undertaking disclosed the order in a regulatory filing dated September 18 under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The contract covers both the supply and maintenance of high-speed rolling stock, giving BEML a role in delivering the trains as well as maintaining them after deployment.
The 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail corridor is being developed to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities while improving connectivity to major urban and industrial centres along the route.
For passengers, the significance of the order lies in the procurement of the trains needed to operate high-speed services on the corridor.
BEML has already been developing high-speed train capabilities. In 2024, it secured an earlier order for two eight-car trainsets designed for a test speed of 280 kmph.
BEML said the latest order was secured in the normal course of business. The filing does not disclose the number of trainsets covered under the ₹5,400-crore contract, their delivery schedule or detailed technical specifications.
