New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of DRDO-developed technologies for all conventional missile systems to the Indian defence industry for production within the country.
The Ministry of Defence said the Transfer of Technology initiative will enable domestic companies to undertake indigenous production of these missile systems, subject to applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements.
The provision is intended to support the transition of missile-system development to industrial production by leveraging the capabilities of Indian industry for the development and manufacture of advanced defence systems.
According to the ministry, the initiative aims to enhance domestic manufacturing capabilities, strengthen the country’s defence industrial base and create opportunities for Indian MSMEs and other technology partners to participate in the supply chain.
The government said the move is also aimed at enhancing operational capability, reducing import dependence and increasing domestic value addition while supporting the growth of India’s defence manufacturing sector.
DRDO will work closely with Indian industry to facilitate the transfer and absorption of advanced defence technologies and further strengthen the country’s indigenous defence capabilities.
