Piyush Goyal to lead India’s largest ever business delegation to Japan, push for deeper trade and investment ties

New Delhi: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from August 24 to 27, leading India’s largest-ever business delegation to the country as both nations look to strengthen trade and investment engagement.

The delegation will comprise more than 200 business representatives from sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automotive, financial services, healthcare and start-ups. Goyal will travel to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka during the four-day visit.

In Tokyo, Goyal will meet the leadership of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial houses and participate in a round-table with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents more than 1,500 leading Japanese companies.

The visit will include dedicated sessions on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, start-ups and engagement with foreign institutional investors.

Goyal will hold bilateral talks with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Akazawa Ryosei and meet senior members of the Japanese Government and Parliament. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian community in Japan.

During the Nagoya leg of the visit, Goyal will lead a business roadshow with Chukeiren, the Central Japan Economic Federation, and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He will also engage with the Aichi Prefecture leadership and major manufacturing investors from the automotive and steel sectors.

The visit will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow and meetings with leading Japanese companies from the electronics, industrial and consumer sectors. The engagements will showcase opportunities across India’s manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets.
