New Delhi: Strengthening banks’ deposit base, supporting the investment cycle and improving credit delivery to key sectors will be among the major issues taken up by public sector lenders and financial institutions at a two-day conclave in the national capital.

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance will hold the PSB Confluence in New Delhi on 17-18 August 2026, bringing together senior leadership from Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Public Financial Institutions (PFIs).

The conclave will focus on collaborative discussions, exchange of best practices and development of actionable and time-bound strategies across different areas of the banking ecosystem, the Finance Ministry said.

Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary will address the conclave.

One of the key themes will be supporting the investment cycle, under which participating institutions will examine measures to facilitate investment for the timely execution of infrastructure projects.

The focus gives the upcoming meeting an infrastructure financing dimension at a time when banks and public financial institutions remain important participants in supporting investment across the economy.

The conclave will be organised around seven thematic tracks: Deposit Mobilization, Banking for Youth, Supporting the Investment Cycle, Supporting Global Capability Centres, Agriculture & Horticulture Value Chain Infrastructure, Re-imagining the Credit Card Business and Priority Sector Lending.

Each thematic track will be coordinated by a designated group of participating institutions. Discussions will focus on identifying best practices and developing initiatives that could be adopted more widely across the banking system.

Under the Deposit Mobilization track, institutions will explore ways to strengthen their resource base and support the availability of affordable credit.

The investment-cycle track, meanwhile, will examine measures aimed at facilitating investment for the timely execution of infrastructure projects.

Infrastructure will also feature in discussions related to agriculture and horticulture. The Agriculture & Horticulture Value Chain Infrastructure track will focus on post-harvest infrastructure requirements and improving market linkages.

Another theme will examine how the banking and financial ecosystem can support Global Capability Centres, while discussions on priority-sector lending will focus on strengthening formal credit access for underserved segments.

The conclave will separately examine banking products and services targeted at younger customers under the Banking for Youth track.

Participants will also discuss the credit-card business and potential approaches to re-imagining the segment.

Around 125 participants are expected to attend the two-day conclave, including chairmen, managing directors and executive directors of public sector banks.

Senior representatives of major public financial institutions, including NABARD, EXIM Bank, SIDBI, National Housing Bank, IIFCL, IFCI and NaBFID, will also participate.

Officials from the Indian Banks’ Association and the Department of Financial Services will be part of the deliberations.
