New Delhi, July 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development projects worth more than ₹17,900 crore in Andhra Pradesh on August 1, including the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, the state’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility and major renewable energy projects, before travelling to Karnataka to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre in Mysuru, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said on Friday.

The flagship project of the visit is the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district. Developed under the public-private partnership (PPP) model at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore, the Greenfield airport has been designed to handle six million passengers annually and is expected to improve regional air connectivity while boosting tourism, trade, investment and employment in Andhra Pradesh.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility at Visakhapatnam. The ASIP Semiconductor Project, being developed by ASIP Technologies Pvt Ltd in partnership with South Korea’s APACT with an investment of more than ₹460 crore, is expected to manufacture around 96 million semiconductor chips annually, generate high-skilled employment and strengthen the domestic semiconductor ecosystem.

He will further launch and dedicate renewable energy transmission infrastructure worth over ₹9,900 crore, including the Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone Phase-I transmission system. According to the PMO, the projects will facilitate the evacuation of renewable power, integrate larger volumes of clean energy into the national grid and support India’s transition towards low-carbon power generation.

In addition, Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over ₹1,880 crore, including Greenfield highway stretches on NH-365BG, the Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67 and a high-level bridge on NH-565. The projects are expected to ease congestion, improve road safety, reduce travel time between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad and strengthen regional connectivity.

Later in the day, he will inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre – Viveka Smaraka at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama in Mysuru. Built at the historic Niranjana Math to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s visit to Mysuru in 1892, the centre includes a 4-D Experience Centre, exhibition hall, amphitheatre, library, meditation and yoga hall, classrooms and facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations. It is expected to benefit more than 10,000 students and other young people through programmes focused on value-based education, leadership development and personality building.

According to the PMO, the projects are aimed at improving transport connectivity, expanding renewable energy infrastructure, promoting domestic semiconductor manufacturing and creating new opportunities for regional economic growth.
