New Delhi, 26 June: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch Bharat Taxi’s Gujarat rollout in Gandhinagar on 27 June, giving the cooperative ride-hailing platform its first major state-level push.

The service is built around a driver-ownership model, where participating “Saarthis” are positioned not only as drivers but also as stakeholders in the platform.

The platform was soft-launched in Gujarat in December 2025 and will now be formally expanded across 14 major cities in the state, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Dwarka, Vadodara, Rajkot, Somnath, Valsad, Anand, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Nadiad, Junagadh, Mehsana and Amreli.

The ministry said the target is to make Bharat Taxi available across Gujarat within the next one month.

More than 1.5 lakh Saarthis and over 7 lakh customers from Gujarat have joined Bharat Taxi so far, while more than 3,500 rides are being completed every day, according to the ministry.

Across India, the platform has recorded participation from 7 lakh Saarthis, with more than 37 lakh customers having used its services.

The programme in Gandhinagar will see the participation of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation, representatives of cooperative institutions and more than 4,000 Saarthis associated with Bharat Taxi.

The ride-hailing platform has been developed by Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Limited with support from eight major cooperative institutions, including NCDC, GCMMF or Amul, NDDB, NAFED, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NABARD and NCEL.

Unlike conventional aggregator models that charge commissions from drivers, Bharat Taxi operates on a zero-commission model.

The ministry said this allows the maximum benefit from ride earnings to reach Saarthis directly.

Drivers associated with the platform will be provided the benefits of insurance, loans, pension and various government social security schemes.

For customers, Bharat Taxi is positioned as a safe and reliable travel option with a surge-free pricing model. Passengers can book bikes, autos and cabs through the platform.
