India and the United States have concluded three days of high-level trade talks in New Delhi, with both sides indicating progress towards an interim trade agreement and a broader Bilateral Trade Agreement.

United States Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer visited New Delhi from 22 to 24 June, leading an official US delegation for discussions with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

The talks were part of ongoing negotiations to advance a balanced and mutually beneficial trade pact between the two countries.

According to the Commerce Ministry, Greer and Goyal held multiple rounds of discussions and reviewed key elements of the proposed Bilateral Trade Agreement.

These included enhanced market access, digital trade, supply chain resilience, reduction of non-tariff barriers and wider cooperation in strategic sectors.

The ministry said both sides noted substantial progress by negotiating teams in recent months.

The discussions focused on ways to conclude an interim agreement, which is being seen as an important step towards a more comprehensive trade pact.

The talks follow the India-US joint statement of 7 February 2026, under which both countries agreed to work towards an interim deal while continuing negotiations for a wider agreement.

Both sides said the proposed agreement should be balanced, commercially meaningful and deliver tangible benefits for businesses, farmers, workers and consumers in India and the United States.

The latest round of talks comes at a time when global trade patterns are shifting and countries are looking to build more resilient and trusted supply chains.

For India and the US, the negotiations are also linked to broader cooperation in innovation, strategic sectors and economic security.

The Commerce Ministry said both countries expressed confidence that the ongoing negotiations will deepen economic ties and strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
