Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Union Minister of State Arjun Ram Meghwal, flagged off the new Bikaner-Ahmedabad train service from Bikaner in Rajasthan on Sunday, 21 June, the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the new train service will strengthen rail connectivity between western Rajasthan and Gujarat and provide passengers in Bikaner and nearby border regions with an additional travel option towards Ahmedabad.
The Ministry of Railways said Vaishnaw outlined the government’s plan to improve railway connectivity across the border regions of western Rajasthan through new railway lines and major infrastructure projects.
The minister said ongoing railway works in Rajasthan, including station redevelopment, track doubling and new rail corridors, will transform the state’s railway network and create scope for more train services in the coming years, according to the statement.
The minister said improved rail connectivity in the border belt will help passenger mobility, strengthen strategic connectivity and support economic development across the region.

Vaishnaw also highlighted the rise in railway investment in Rajasthan.
He stated that annual railway investment in the state, which stood at around ₹683 crore during the earlier Congress era, has increased to over ₹10,228 crore under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
The ministry said the higher investment is driving major growth in railway infrastructure and connectivity across Rajasthan.
The new Bikaner-Ahmedabad service adds another route to Rajasthan’s rail network and supports the Railways’ wider focus on modernising stations, expanding track capacity and improving access in western Rajasthan’s border districts.
