Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway, NH-56 four-laning, NAMO Airport terminal: PM Modi to launch ₹22,600 crore projects in Surat and Daman on 5 June

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Surat and Daman on 5 June to inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of several development projects across road, power, healthcare, aviation, tourism, port and industrial sectors.

In Surat, the Prime Minister will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around ₹18,800 crore.

He is scheduled to visit Hazira in Surat district at around 2.30 PM to review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects.

At around 4.15 PM, Modi will attend a public programme in Surat, where he will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the 8-lane access-controlled Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation.

The project is aimed at improving high-speed transport, logistics efficiency and economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.

He will also lay the foundation stone for four-laning of critical sections on NH-56. The project is expected to improve connectivity across tribal regions and strengthen access to the Statue of Unity.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate a 200-bed ESIC Hospital in Surat.

The hospital will provide secondary healthcare services across key specialties and will have a central laboratory, essential ancillary services, and 24/7 emergency and trauma care.

Other projects in Surat include transmission network expansion in Gujarat under the Inter-State Transmission System, power distribution upgrades in Valsad under the Revamped Reforms-Based Distribution Sector Scheme, effluent disposal and treatment infrastructure at Dahej PCPIR and Sarigam GIDC, and layout utilities at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.

Later, the Prime Minister will travel to Daman.

At around 6.15 PM, he will inaugurate the New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nation.

At around 7.15 PM, he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth around ₹2,970 crore in Daman.

The projects in Daman cover healthcare, civil aviation, tourism, infrastructure, connectivity and public welfare.

These include projects worth around ₹1,340 crore, such as the New Terminal Building of NAMO Airport and NAMO Hospital.

NAMO Hospital, the district hospital in Daman district, has been developed to cater to nearly 1,500 OPD patients per day.

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of projects worth around ₹1,630 crore in Daman.

Major projects include the Iconic Bridge, Daman Convention Centre and NIFT Campus.

During the programme, Modi will also lay the foundation stone of four important projects for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep worth around ₹885 crore.

These include development of port facilities on the eastern and western sides of Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island.

The proposed multipurpose jetties will support year-round berthing of large passenger vessels, including cruise vessels up to 300 metres in length.

The projects will also support passenger and cargo handling, fish handling, fuel distribution, ice supply and boat repair facilities.
