The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has removed over 15 unauthorised shops during an enforcement drive along the Multi Utility Corridor in Sector 90, Gurugram.

The demolition action was carried out, as part of GMDA’s continuing efforts against illegal encroachments on public land, the authority said in a statement on Wednesday, 27 May.

According to the authority, the unauthorised structures were obstructing public land and utility spaces along the corridor.

The drive was led by District Town Planner, GMDA, R.S. Batth, in the presence of officials from the Enforcement Wing.

“During the operation, over 15 illegal shops constructed without permission on public land were demolished,” the GMDA said.

A police team of around 15 personnel was also deployed at the site to ensure smooth execution of the drive and maintain law and order during the demolition exercise.

GMDA said strict warnings were also issued to violators and encroachers during the drive.

The authority asked those occupying public land illegally to voluntarily remove such encroachments and refrain from carrying out unauthorised construction activities in the area.

GMDA officials said public land and utility corridors are critical urban infrastructure assets, and any illegal encroachment on them will invite strict enforcement action.

The authority said it will continue such drives across Gurugram to protect public spaces, support planned urban development and keep utility corridors free from obstruction.

“GMDA remains committed to protecting public land and ensuring that utility corridors and urban infrastructure spaces remain free from illegal encroachments. Strict action will continue against unauthorised constructions and violations across the city,” Batth said.
