The Ministry of Communications on Friday said the Department of Posts (DoP) and Flipkart India Private Limited have signed an agreement for last-mile parcel delivery services across India, aimed at strengthening the country’s e-commerce logistics ecosystem.
The agreement was signed in New Delhi on Friday, 22 May, by Neeraj Kumar Jha, General Manager, Parcel Directorate, Department of Posts, and Harvinder Kapur, Director – Commercial, Flipkart India Private Limited.
The signing took place in the presence of Adnan Ahmed, Chief General Manager, Parcel and CCS Directorate, Department of Posts, Dippy Vankani, Director (Corporate Affairs), Flipkart India Private Limited, and senior officials from both organisations.
Under the agreement, the Department of Posts will provide last-mile delivery services for Flipkart shipments across India.
The partnership will use India Post’s delivery network and Flipkart’s presence in the e-commerce sector to offer efficient, reliable and customer-focused parcel delivery services.
The arrangement will allow Flipkart to use India Post’s network for parcel delivery across urban, semi-urban and rural areas, including remote and underserved regions.

The services will include delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels, OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking.
According to the Ministry of Communications, the agreement focuses on faster deliveries, improved operational coordination and seamless technology integration for efficient parcel movement and delivery.
Through the partnership, Flipkart will gain access to the Department of Posts’ network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices and its delivery presence across India.
This is expected to improve market reach, delivery efficiency and serviceability, particularly in remote and rural locations.
The collaboration is also expected to support the growth of India’s e-commerce sector by strengthening logistics infrastructure for parcel movement across the country.
The ministry said the partnership is expected to significantly strengthen the parcel business of the Department of Posts by improving utilisation of its delivery network and logistics infrastructure.
The agreement aligns with the Department’s ongoing efforts to transform itself into a leading logistics organisation supporting the evolving needs of India’s digital economy.
