Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reportedly set to inaugurate the 594 Km Ganga Expressway on 29 April at an event in Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh.

The access-controlled expressway stretches from Bijauli in Meerut to near Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj, establishing a continuous east-west corridor across the state.

The alignment covers 12 districts, including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Developed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), the project has been built at an estimated cost exceeding ₹36,000 crore.

It is designed as a 6-lane expressway, with provision for future expansion to 8 lanes, and follows a fully access-controlled configuration.

Once operational, the corridor is expected to improve connectivity between western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, reducing travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj while enabling more efficient movement of goods and passenger traffic.

The expressway will connect with the Purvanchal Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, creating a continuous high-speed road network across Uttar Pradesh.

Construction began after project approval in 2020, with the project now slated for inauguration as the longest expressway in Uttar Pradesh.
