Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT), at the Deendayal Port Authority, has handled over 10 million metric tonnes of cargo in the ongoing financial year 2025-26 for the first time, marking a major milestone in cargo throughput at the port.
According to the Deendayal Port Authority, the terminal recorded a total throughput of 10,047,358 metric tonnes as of 24 February in FY2025-26, surpassing its previous highest annual cargo handling of 8,663,243 metric tonnes achieved in the financial year 2021-22.
“Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) has created history by handling 10 Million Metric Tonnes of cargo in a single financial year for the very first time! As on 24th February, the terminal recorded an impressive throughput of 10,047,358 MT, surpassing the previous best of 8,663,243 MT (FY 2021-22). A testament to operational excellence, teamwork & growing maritime strength!,” the port authority stated.
Deendayal Port, formerly known as Kandla Port, is located in Gujarat’s Kutch district along the Gulf of Kutch and is one of India’s major ports administered by the Deendayal Port Authority under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
The port serves as a critical gateway for northern and western India, handling containers, crude oil, petroleum products, fertilisers, foodgrains, and other bulk cargo.
The Kandla International Container Terminal plays a central role in container cargo handling at the port and supports trade flows linked to industrial centres across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and the National Capital Region.
