55 solar parks with 39,973 MW capacity sanctioned; over 16,000 MW already commissioned: govt informed that a total of 55 Solar Parks with a cumulative capacity of 39,973 MW have been sanctioned under the scheme “Development of Solar Parks and Ultra Mega Solar Power Projects,” the government informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday (11 February).

The information was provided by Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power Shripad Yesso Naik in a written reply to a question on solar parks and ultra mega solar projects.

“The total number of Solar Parks and Ultra-Mega Solar Power Projects sanctioned under the Solar Park Scheme since inception along with the total sanctioned capacity (in MW) during the last five years,” the minister said.

Out of the total sanctioned capacity of 39,973 MW, solar capacity of 16,121 MW has been commissioned in the solar parks so far, the minister stated.

He added that 8,176 MW of the commissioned capacity has been operationalised during the last five years.

Year-wise capacity commissioned in the last five years, as shared in the reply, stands at 452 MW in 2020-21, 1,604 MW in 2021-22, 136 MW in 2022-23, 1,304 MW in 2023-24, 1,363 MW in 2024-25, and 3,317 MW in 2025-26 (till December 2025), taking the cumulative commissioned capacity in the last five years to 8,176 MW.

Year-wise data shared by the minister shows that solar parks with an approved capacity of 3,698 MW were sanctioned in 2020-21, followed by 16,704 MW in 2021-22.

No capacity was sanctioned in 2022-23, while 1,165 MW was approved in 2023-24, 2,000 MW in 2024-25, and 650 MW in the current financial year 2025-26.
