Navi Mumbai International Airport has crossed the one-lakh passenger milestone within 19 days of commencing commercial flight operations, marking a strong early response from travellers.

The airport handled a total of 1,09,917 passengers as of January 12, including 55,934 arriving and 53,983 departing passengers, according to Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd. January 10 emerged as the busiest day so far, with 7,345 passengers arriving and departing from the facility.

Commercial passenger services at the airport began on December 25 last year. The airport has an initial capacity to handle up to 20 million passengers annually.

Between December 25 and January 12, the airport recorded 734 air traffic movements, which included 32 general aviation flights. During the same period, airport operations involved the processing of 40,260 arriving bags and 38,774 departing bags.

Cargo operations also commenced alongside passenger services, with the airport handling 22.21 tonnes of cargo during the period, highlighting its integrated passenger and cargo handling approach from the start.

In terms of passenger traffic, Delhi, Goa, and Bengaluru emerged as the top connectivity sectors, the airport operator said.

The airport, backed by the Adani Group, said the early milestone reflects steady ramp-up in travel demand from the region. The operator added that with modern infrastructure, streamlined processes, and a focus on operational efficiency, services at the airport are being scaled up in a calibrated manner.
