Since the launch of the SVAMITVA Scheme, 3.06 crore property cards have been generated across 1.86 lakh villages, with 31 States and Union Territories onboarded so far, the government informed the Lok Sabha.

The Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) Scheme was launched nationwide by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on National Panchayati Raj Day, 24 April 2021, following the successful completion of a pilot phase conducted during 2020 to 2021 in nine states.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh said the scheme leverages modern drone-based aerial survey technology along with Continuous Operating Reference Stations to map abadi areas of villages and establish clear ownership of rural properties.

“The survey process includes generation of high-resolution orthorectified images, preparation of geo-referenced maps, ground verification with participation of local authorities and villagers, and resolution of objections before issuance of property cards by the State Government. The maps created under the SVAMITVA Scheme are of high resolution at a 1:500 scale with an accuracy of up to 5 cm. This technology-driven approach enables accurate demarcation of property boundaries and supports the establishment of clear ownership records in rural areas,” Singh said.

“Since the launch of the Scheme, 3.06 crore property cards have been generated for 1.86 lakh villages. As on date, 31 States and Union Territories have been onboarded for the SVAMITVA Scheme,” he added.

According to the information shared by the minister, states and Union Territories where property cards have been prepared include Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Odisha, Puducherry, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.
