Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on 28 March 2026 to inaugurate Phase I of the Noida International Airport at Jewar.

The inauguration marks a key milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure expansion, with the airport positioned as a major international gateway for the National Capital Region.

Developed with an investment of around ₹11,200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership model, the project is among the largest greenfield airport developments in the country.

Phase I of the airport will initially handle 12 million passengers per annum, with the capacity scalable up to 70 million passengers per annum in later phases.

The airport features a 3,900-metre runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft and includes modern navigation systems such as Instrument Landing System and advanced airfield lighting for all-weather, round-the-clock operations.

Designed as a multi-modal transport hub, the airport will integrate road, rail, metro and regional transit systems to enable seamless connectivity.

It also incorporates a multi-modal cargo hub with an initial handling capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, expandable to around 18 lakh metric tonnes, along with a dedicated 40-acre Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility.

Once operational, the airport will function alongside Indira Gandhi International Airport as part of an integrated aviation system for Delhi NCR, helping ease congestion and expand capacity.

The project is designed as a sustainable infrastructure initiative, with plans to operate as a net-zero emissions facility incorporating energy-efficient systems and environmentally responsible practices.

Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is expected to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen India’s position as a global aviation hub.
